Is stainless steel magnetic?

Generally speaking, stainless steel is austenite and is not magnetic. But martensite and ferrite are magnetic, but austenite can also be magnetic. There are two reasons for this:
During solidification, some magnetism will remain due to some smelting reasons. For example, 304 will remain 3-8%, which is a normal phenomenon, so austenite should be non-magnetic or weakly magnetic.
Austenitic stainless steel is non-magnetic, but after cold work hardening, the γ phase will partially generate martensitic transformation and become magnetic. Heat treatment can be used to eliminate this martensite structure and restore its non-magnetic properties.
